Travel Gadget: SoundPEATS TrueFree 2 True Wireless Earbuds Review
Over the last couple of years, SoundPEATS has produced some of the cheapest wireless earbuds–a hunk of devices that are increasingly growing in popularity–that deliver good-quality sound. The SoundPEATS TrueFree 2, being one of its first flagship products, isn’t an exception.
Available at P1,890 (its lowest price yet), the TrueFree 2 plays squarely in the lower-priced segment of the market, among competitors such as Sabbat, House of Marley, and Haylou. Nevertheless, it makes a formidable case for itself.

What is in the Box
- 1 x SOUNDPEATS TrueFree 2 Wireless Earbuds
- 1 x Charging Cable (USB Type-C)
- 1 x Charging Case
- 6 x Interchangeable Ear Tips
- 1 x User Manual
The TrueFree 2 has a built-in 6mm bio-compound diaphragm driver that streams finely-tuned sound with good clarity and low distortion. It doesn’t offer noise-canceling, but it does have a solid bass dynamic.
A pair cost a fraction of the price of premium wireless earbuds (like Apple’s Airpods and Samsung’s Galaxy Buds+), but are competitive in terms of audio finesse and sonic balance.
Design and Ergonomics
The TrueFree 2 sports exclusively-made ear fins with rubber “wings” powered by Freebit to offer a customized fit. Although this prevents the device from falling off, the rubbers lead onto a rather sharp corner that then burrows into your ears making the first hour or so of wearing them a little uncomfortable.
Design-wise, we feel like the TrueFree2’s charging case would have felt more premium if it came in a matte finish (which we loved in the True Engine 3SE) instead of the standard AB gloss plastic. Still, this is a personal preference, and some consumers may actually prefer a tinge of shine in their devices.

It is IPX7-rated which means the earbuds can withstand sweat and water and allows you to use them while doing tedious activities such as sports and exercise.
Battery life and usage
Battery life is competitive too, with a single charge giving four full hours of playback and the charging case providing an additional four full charges, bringing the total battery life at your disposal (and in your pockets) to 20 hours.
Controls and connectivity
The TrueFree 2 has an on-ear button control instead of touch panels that enables accurate operation on switching tracks, adjusting volume, handling calls, and activating voice assistant.
You play or pause music with a single touch. Double-press right to increase volume, double-press left to decrease it. You hold the right bud for 1-2 seconds to skip to the next song; hold the left one for 1-2 seconds to return a track. Finally, you can activate the voice assistant on your phone by triple-pressing a button.
The SoundPeats TrueFree headphones connect to your listening device through Bluetooth 5.0, which allows two pairs of wireless headphones to stream audio and boasts of improved speed and greater range.
